We are currently seeking a Project / Facility Engineer to support the growth of our expanding business in engineering and cathodic protection projects. This is a full-time permanent position reporting jointly to the Manager of Engineering and the Director of Cathodic Protection Services, and will be based at our Calgary Office. The Project / Facility Engineer will be responsible for acting as a coordinator of multiple projects for our clients and undertaking engineering and construction projects for our Oil & Gas client base.  We are looking for someone who is self-driven, team oriented, and ambitious and who has both strong leadership and technical abilities.


Project Management
  • Manage multiple engineering and construction projects, ranging from $20k – $500k
  • Develop project execution plans, project work scopes, cost estimates, and schedules
  • Interact with clients for project execution
  • Coordinate engineering disciplines and team members to complete project deliverables
  • Source suppliers and contractors as necessary to execute projects
  • Coordinate and support field work with site supervisors and contractors
  • Monitor project scope, costs and schedules, progress tracking, and implementation of change management
  • Prepare bid documents including review of commercial and technical terms and conditions
  • Develop and issue purchase orders and contracts
  • Assist with growing and developing a team of project and discipline support engineers, staff and sub-contractors, to execute projects
  • Assist with continuous improvement of Skystone project management procedures and tools
  • Support implementation of construction risk management programs
Project Engineering
  • Assist in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals
  • When required, oversee and conduct design engineering for new construction and modifications work
  • Project types will include but not be restricted to the following:
    • Design and construction of pipeline and facilities cathodic protection system
    • Pipeline integrity projects such as: inline inspections, dig programs, pipeline abandonments, change of service etc.
    • Facility turnarounds with a focus on inspection program
    • Facility maintenance modifications
    • Tank inspections and turnarounds

Business Development
  • Provide support for identifying and pursuing opportunities for projects with prospective and existing clients
The Successful Candidate Will Possess
  • Willingness to travel to field and project sites (< 30%)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and professional relationships
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and manage multiple projects and groups simultaneously
  • Ability to manage and direct engineering project teams
  • Be a permanent resident in Calgary area
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation recognized by APEGA
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Project Management/Project Engineer role as well as project design, estimating and project execution for a Western Canadian EPCM or construction contractor
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Direct upstream Oil & Gas engineering project experience related to construction and/or maintenance of pipelines and processing facilities
  • Relevant experience for the projects listed above
  • Familiarity with pipeline and facility integrity programs
  • Experience with design and construction of Cathodic Protection systems
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills
  • Experience in developing a business line and team of professionals
