Skystone Engineering is a full service provider of integrity programs and field inspection services for pipelines and pressure equipment. For over a decade we have helped the oil and gas industry operate safely, maximize up-time of pipelines and production facilities, and maintain regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Vice President, Engineering Services; the Senior Technical Specialist is responsible for management and delivery of client projects, and supervising project teams. This includes understanding client needs, developing business goals and service delivery.

Job Duties:

As a member of the Engineering group, the Senior Technical Specialist, Cathodic Protection is responsible for, but not limited to, the following general duties:

  • Use your knowledge of cathodic protection for pipeline systems to design and implement:
    • Cathodic protection systems,
    • Inspection programs,
    • Ongoing monitoring programs,
    • Mitigation programs,
    • System installation and repairs.
  • Monitor Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs for projects.
  • Ensure deliverables are compliant with all applicable codes, standards and regulations.
  • Client Management:
    • Primary client liaison from proposal to project delivery including invoicing and collections for select projects.
    • Foster and develop new business relationships where applicable.
  • Periodic travel and field work are a component of the position.
  • Assist in and provide technical support to broader pipeline integrity and engineering projects.

Industry Experience and Education:

  • Minimum 5 years experience with Cathodic Protection Systems (design, monitoring and maintenance); preferably with an engineering or service company.
  • Minimum 4-year post-secondary degree or equivalent education; P. Eng. is preferred.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written /verbal) and command of the English language (oral, written and comprehension).
  • Self motivated, ability to think critically and proven problem solving skills.
  • Exposure and experience with pipeline integrity engineering and programs will be considered an asset.
